An Introduction to The Cascadia Chronicles Substack
What Cascadia is and what we're trying to do here.
Welcome to Cascadia, friends! Thank you for joining me in bringing this world to life.
My name is Jordan Green, and I’m your guide. I’ve imagined Cascadia in some form or another since I was small, playing with BattleBeasts in our backyard, learning mammal classifications on road trips through the Mountain West, and obsessively reading fantasy adventures.
One of my favorite fantasy worlds was Brian Jacques’ Redwall series, where mammals feasted and spoke in funny accents and swung swords and worked together. I wanted a series like that set here, in Oregon, starring our uniquely American flora and fauna. About fifteen years ago, I started charting out a story of four mammals on a journey up Eagle Creek, and Cascadia has expanded inside me ever since.
My goal this year is to finish the first novel in this series. To accomplish this goal, I put together a plan. This Substack exists to journal that plan’s process and, hopefully, the novel’s completion by the end of November.
