As well as being new to Substack I have just stumbled upon your work. Has it been published yet? It has a touch of the Philip Reeve about it. I've been drawn into the world of mammals although I haven't figured out the chronology yet ie is the whole novel up on Substack in chapter order?
As a newbie, and based in the UK, I'd like to follow the Substack advice of making contact with other writers. Although I write thrillers, I have also written the first of a YA fantasy 'The Cosmic Algorithm', when the entire animal kingdom vanishes from the planet.
I am also eager for advice on my Substack page. I have no idea if I am approaching it in the right way. I imported my mailing list of readers but do not want to just post promotional stuff about my books – too salesy. If you have comments (good, bad or indifferent), I'd be glad to read them.
I’m so glad you used the word “gloaming”. When I came across that while teaching 11th grade American lit I immediately added it to my vocabulary and I do like to utilize it every once in a while.
It’s all so beautifully written... I can really visualize the foggy marsh, and I like how these animals work and stick together.
